It’s the pandemic’s fault. No, really. Let’s blame COVID-19.
During Georgia’s (and the world’s) full-stop on life as we have known it, I have been obediently sheltering-in-place at home, unable to go to work for weeks. Like many others, I have taken advantage of this bizarre change of routine to carefully re-examine the facets of my life, including which elements of my days make me happy and which ones I can confidently ditch without finding myself in jail or homeless.
I’ve realized the career in marketing I’ve built served one purpose: to pay the bills. It brought no joy, very little satisfaction, and resembled in no way the life I envision when I allow myself to ask “what if?.” As grateful as I am for the ability to keep the electricity on and groceries in the fridge, I have not been happy. It is no longer enough to pretend to be content. There must be something more.
I want to build a life that I don’t need a vacation from.
This little blog was born as a result, becoming my way of combining my passions of travel, writing and photography in a way that excites me and gives me an opportunity to explore things that spark my interest.
This space is intended to offer a glimpse into places I love to go on the off-chance you might enjoy reading about them and consider a trip for yourself. I don’t consider myself to be the world’s foremost expert on travel planning, but travel is a continual teacher and I intend to learn all I can! I plan to share my personal experiences and recommendations, along with any tips I happen to pick up along the way.
Until it is feasible to travel once again, my initial pieces will be about places in my home state of Georgia and the Deep South that I have enjoyed visiting and hope to see again soon. One day I plan to venture further out and explore other areas of this big blue world.
It is my dream that I can make a career of writing about interesting places to go and the things to do there. In the meantime, please enjoy my little stories and let me know what you think!
Stay safe out there.
XOXO,
